Dianne's Machine Embroidered Quilt

Machine embroidered blocks always pose a challenge when it comes to quilting. Do you stitch through the embroidery or around it?

If the quilt is going to be used, rather than a display piece for a wall, it needs to have sufficient quilting to hold the layers together and protect the fabric for the life of the quilt.  Fortunately the blocks in this quilt, made by my sister Dianne, were only 9″ square so I could use a continuous curve filled with stipple meander to frame the embroidery and reduce the unquilted space around each image.
