The Aurifil Embroidery for April was designed by an Aussie designer

This month the Aurifil embroidery block has been designed by one of our local Melbourne designers!

Gail Pan, of Gail Pan Designs, has added this delightful “April Showers” design to the set of FREE embroideries that I hope you have been stitching.

"April showers", the embroidery designed by Gail Pan for the Aurifil Block of the month program

If you haven’t yet caught up with the Aurifil Designer Embroidery Program for 2012 let me tell you that it is worth getting involved.

Each month a free pattern is released for a 6″ embroidery design that is framed with a pieced border frame. The blocks will all fit together in a quilt design that will be released later in the year, or you could choose to use them as small feature blocks in wall hangings or cushions.

It is a fun, year long, program where you can meet each designer as they talk with Pat Sloan and find out how they started their designing career, download and stitch out their designs, then enter a photo of your block into the competition to win a prize.

Download the pattern using the link at the bottom of the interview, or go our website to collect the pattern.

There are some great prizes still to be won each month so there is still time to get out the needle & Cotton Mako’ 12 and start stitching.

Gail used these vibrant Cotton Mako’ colours of red, orange & blue tempered with a brown & dark green to stitch her design.

To be eligible to enter the photo competition to win one of the monthly prizes, the design must be recognisable as being the design for that month, and it must have been stitched in Aurifil Cotton Mako’ 12, but you can use a different colour way to match your chosen fabric range.

So ask for Aurifil Cotton Mako’ 12 at your local store, or visit our online store to purchase the matching thread set, or individual threads in your own colour way.

As you read this, I hope you have had a lovely relaxed, and safe, Easter weekend with some time set aside for stitching.

We were all given a lovely Easter gift at our staff meeting on Thursday. Delicious biscuits hidden inside a pretty wrapping. Thank you Ladybirdee.
